NASHVILLE (AP) — The Nashville Predators signed forward Scott Walker to a contract extension, the team announced Tuesday. Terms of the extension were not disclosed. Walker, 30, leads the Predators this season in goals (17), points (38) and short-handed goals with three. He is Nashville's all-time leading scorer with 83 goals, and ranks among the franchise leaders in games played, assists and points.

Walker was scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July 1.

"Scott Walker is the prototype Nashville Predator, and we are pleased to announce that we have signed him to a long-term deal," general manager David Poile said. "He is a feisty, hard-working emotional leader who basically developed from a role player into a top-line contributor with Nashville over the past six seasons."

Walker was selected by Nashville from Vancouver in the 1998 NHL Expansion Draft. The converted defenseman was originally the Canucks' fourth selection of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, taken in the fifth round.
