NBA Insider: Nets sputtering on the court and at the box office
Posted 11/19/2009 9:34 PM ET
The snake-bit New Jersey Nets (0-12) are off to the NBA's worst start since the Memphis Grizzlies' 0-13 in 2003, putting Lawrence Frank on the hot seat to join fired New Orleans Hornets coach Byron Scott.

New Jersey is five games shy of the NBA record of 17 losses to start the season, set by the 1988-89 Miami Heat and tied by the 1998-99 Los Angeles Clippers.

Next up is a home game Saturday vs. the Knicks, followed by a four-game West Coast trip.

Injuries have been key, to All-Star guard Devin Harris, guard Courtney Lee, swingman Keyon Dooling and forwards Yi Jianlian, Tony Battie and Jarvis Hayes. Nets president Rod Thorn wants to see a healthy team before deciding Frank's fate.

The box office is getting hurt, too. Tuesday's promotion of price cuts and two free tickets to season ticket holders drew just 11,332 to 19,990-seat Izod Center. The Nets have the fifth-lowest average attendance (14,202).

Thursday, opponents of the Brooklyn arena planned for the Nets filed suit seeking to overturn a New York state agency's approval of the project.

Injury front:

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James (sore wrist) expects to play today vs. the Indiana Pacers. …Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut (lower leg strain and contusion) will miss up to a month.
