Coaches in the USA TODAY college football top 25 will continue making their final regular-season vote public after all. The American Football Coaches Association decided last summer to make this the final season votes are released on the weekend the matchup for the Bowl Championship Series title game is made. The AFCA had said it was acting on a recommendation from independent consultant Gallup to keep the votes private but delayed implementation of that suggestion to survey its major-college members on how they wanted to proceed.
The final regular-season vote has been revealed for the last four years. Today, however, the AFCA will announce it is keeping that vote public. "One of the things I remember (Gallup) saying is you always get a truer vote when it's a secret ballot," AFCA executive director Grant Teaff said. "But five years ago, conference commissioners asked for transparency in the voting, and the coaches agreed."
