STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut center Jessica McCormack, a sophomore transfer from Washington, won't be playing basketball for UConn after all.

The school says McCormack, a native of New Zealand, has decided to stay at home and attend school in Auckland.

McCormack sat out the Huskies' national championship season because of NCAA transfer rules and went home in February to undergo surgery on her right Achilles' tendon. She was expected to be back in Connecticut for summer school.

McCormack competed at the Beijing Olympics as the youngest member of New Zealand's women's basketball team and was expected to provide UConn with some depth in its front court.
