VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Benedict XVI is meeting with artists, actors and musicians in the splendor of the Sistine Chapel to renew the Catholic church's friendship with the world of art.
He says the beauty of the frescoed Sistine Chapel made it the perfect place to meet with artists.
The participants in the meeting Saturday included painters, sculptors, dancers, musicians, actors and film directors.
Benedict told them that the church's "friendship must be continually promoted."
