CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Southern Illinois has a new women's basketball coach, drawing from the Division II ranks.

The Salukis on Thursday tapped 36-year-old Missy Tiber (TY'-burr) to replace Dana Eikenberg, who resigned April 2 after five seasons.

Tiber went 167-70 during eight years as head coach at two Division II schools, four years apiece at Tusculum (Tuss-cah-LUM') in Tennessee and Belmont Abbey in North Carolina. That stretch included three trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament, three conference titles and a No. 5 national ranking.

An Ohio native who played college ball at West Liberty State, Tiber agreed to a five-year contract that will pay her $100,000 a year.

Southern went 9-19 last season, losing in the first round of last month's league tournament.
