'Project Runway All Stars' announces Season 2 cast
Posted 9/26/2012 5:08 PM ET
Whatever happened to Andrae Gonzalo, that Project Runway Season 2 star beloved by mentor Tim Gunn (and memorably immortalized by co-contestant Santino Rice)?

Now we know: He's turning up on the second season of Runway's reunion show, Project Runway All Stars, which premieres Oct. 25 (9 p.m. ET/PT) on Lifetime.

In typical reality reunion show fashion, the cast of 13 is a crazy quilt of the sweet (Season 8's Peach Carr) and the snarky (Season 9's Joshua McKinley, who infamously stepped into a showdown with a female competitor -- in the ladies' room), of recent castoffs (No. 9's Laura Kathleen) and veterans hauled out from the vault (No. 1's Wendy Pepper).

"You want to make sure as much as possible you're pleasing the fans," says executive producer Jon Murray.

Stitched into the mix? "People who came so close to winning they want to come back," Murray says. "They feel like they were robbed," such as Season 7's Emilio Sosa. And those for whom "we had this gut instinct that maybe they left too early" -- for whom Heidi Klum's trademark tagline, "One day you're in, and the next day you're out," proved all too prescient (take Season 9's Anthony Ryan Auld).

Rounding out the cutting crew: Kayne Gillaspie and Uli Herzner (Season 3); he who refers to himself in the third person, Suede Baum (Season 5); Althea Harper (Season 6); and Ivy Higa and one-named wonder Casanova (Season 8).

Other notables include a new supermodel host, Carolyn Murphy, and a hotly anticipated guest-judging gig by budding designer Katie Holmes, shot just days after her split from Tom Cruise was announced.

Even though Runway's current 10th season has seen its share of unprecedented workroom drama -- two surprise departures by contestants, including one who fled literally in the middle of the night -- Murray assures that no All-Star unravels in such spectacular style.

"No one just chooses to quit or leave. They know what they're getting into." Some contestants' scissors may be a little rusty, but "they know how hard this is and how demanding this is."
