USA TODAY's Chris Colston caught up with Trail Blazers star Brandon Roy for some offbeat questions and answers in this 20-second timeout:

Favorite holiday: "Thanksgiving. There's something about having the whole family together and giving thanks for the great things in life. It's a day I can eat whatever I want. Ever since I was a kid, my mom has made me my own sweet potato pie that I could hide in my room and eat myself. She still does."

Historical figure: Malcolm X. "I'd love to have a conversation with him."

Best thing about Portland: "Just the fans. They make it an unbelievable experience. Not just for the top guys, but for everybody on the team."

Favorite hour of day: "7 p.m. on the West coast. Waking up from a nap, catching the East Coast and West Coast ballgames.

Dream dinner: Soul food. "Fried chicken or catfish, collard greens, candied yams, macaroni and cheese, Cherry Kool-Aid."

Ice cream: Vanilla with strawberry syrup.

Best friend in the NBA:Atlanta Hawks guard Jamal Crawford. "He took me under his wing when I was in high school. He's just a great guy, and it's not a front. He always treated me with respect."

Coolest NBA uniform: The Los Angeles Lakers' white ones they wear on Sunday.

Favorite website: "I'm not a computer guy. I might be the only guy in the NBA who doesn't own a laptop. I'm a caveman."
