Nielsens: Fox scores big with World Series

Network tally. Four World Series games blasted Fox past rivals to take a commanding lead for the week, with an average of 14.7 million viewers. CBS drew 9.8 million, ABC 9.5 million, NBC 5.6 million, Uni 3.3 million, and CW 2.2 million, though ABC placed second in young adults.

Series soars. The Yankees-Phillies matchup is on track to be the highest-rated Fall Classic since 2004's Red Sox-Cardinals duel. Sunday's Game 4 topped the week with 22.8 million viewers; Saturday's rain-delayed Game 3 had the lowest turnout with 15.4 million.

NIELSEN CHARTS: How did your favorite shows fare?

Holiday treat. NBC's Monsters vs. Aliens special scared up 7 million viewers Wednesday, ranking second in the slot. But it was no match for DreamWorks' previous TV special, ABC'sShrek the Halls , which scored 20.8 million for its initial 2007 run. Thursday'sJay Leno Show hit a series-low 4.4 million.

Pastry chefs. The season opener of TLC's Cake Boss (2.3 million Monday) outdrew the finale of Food Network's Ace of Cakes (1.3 million Thursday).

Sink or swim. Week 2 of USA's White Collar (5.1 million viewers) held 94% of its premiere audience, but against the World Series, the second episode of Comedy Central's Jeff Dunham Show sunk to 2.3 million Thursday, from a series-record 5.3 million for its opener.

Standing tall. BET's Monica: Still Standing claimed 2.8 million viewers Tuesday behind the channel's Hip Hop Awards (3.9 million). The season wrap-up of VH1's Real Chance of Love drew 2.5 million Monday, while FX's new sports-themed comedy The League opened with 994,000 Thursday.
