The remaining four sang solos, tributes to coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green, and duets with their coaches for America's votes. Unlike other rounds, the coaches have no influence on the results this week.
The Voice champion will be crowned Tuesday (9 ET/PT) in NBC's two-hour finale.MORE: Meet the final four STORY: 'The Voice' is making itself heard
Former Alicia Keys backup singer Jermaine Paul opened the show with the powerful I Believe I Can Fly. Dressed in a white tux and backed by a choir, he sang with emotion. Christina, who said she was not feeling well, said, "You just sing with so much heart," and CeeLo added, "You look like a handsome man with a beautiful voice." Adam called Jermaine "engaging" and "elegant." Coach Blake said, "My heart is in my throat right now. I continue to feel like I learn things from you."
Tony Lucca, who was a member of the Mickey Mouse Club, turned Jay-Z's 99 Problems into a folk song with a five-piece band, complete with a washboard. "What a really cool version of that song," said Blake. CeeLo liked the performance, but Christina thought the song was "a little derogatory toward women." Coach Adam responded to Christina's comments by taking off his flannel to reveal a black V-neck with "Team Xtina" written in pink glitter. He said to Tony, "You did an amazing job."
Opera singer Chris Mann performed You Raise Me Up surrounded by a high school choir that communicated the song's lyrics in sign language. The coaches were moved. "You are, by far, one of the most incomparable vocalists I've ever heard," said CeeLo. Coach Christina, in tears, said, "Every show you've really shown you've gotten here by true talent and voice alone. I'm very moved by you."
Rocker Juliet Simms, who was sick for her performance, didn't look it in a red dress with an attached cape. She almost showed her tonsils while belting Free Bird with her gritty voice. "No one sings like you. You're incredible," said Adam. "I loved that song and I loved you on it," said Christina. Coach CeeLo said, "With Juliet Simms on my team," — he pointed to his shirt that read "NO PROBLEMS" — "I have no problems."
The tribute songs:
Jermaine sang God Gave Me You to Blake, and gave him a handshake in the middle of his performance.
Tony stumbled over some of the fast lyrics in Maroon 5's Harder to Breathe when he sang it to Adam, the band's lead singer.
Chris sang Christina's The Voice Within, while a letter he wrote to his coach projected on the screens behind him.
Juliet sang the Gnarls Barkley hit Crazy in honor of CeeLo, who's one-half of that soul duo. She approached her coach's chair and sang "Does that make us crazy?"
Jermaine and Blake, who have very distinct styles, collaborated on a soulful song: Soul Man.
Tony and Adam, both huge Beatles fans, harmonized on Yesterday with Tony on guitar.
Chris and Christina dueted on The Prayer, the song Chris has dreamt of singing with Christina since the show began.
Juliet and CeeLo performed an appropriate song for the edgy, leather-clad duo: Born to Be Wild.
